Aubrey has been a bundle of FUN lately! His personality is shining through more and more everyday. I bet it wouldn't surprise you to know that he is much like his daddy!
One day we had the pleasure of watching our friend/neighbor Eva while her parents went to visit their dad in the hospital. She and Aubrey had a wild time playing together.
Aubrey really has a sweet, cuddly side to him. There are times when he will sit still in your lap. And I soak it all all in. Every. little. second.
This past month we took a trip to Lake Charles to visit with Seth's family for Father's Day and spend some time with his mom before she began her month of traveling in and out of the country.
We spent lots of time in the water! Aubrey loves the waterexcept when Dad decides to throw him 10 feet in the air.
He really likes to play with a water hose. Since it has been so HOT around here, we have been cooling him off in the evenings with the hose and sprinkler.
Aubrey has a new love of hats. Up until this point, he has never liked anything on his head. He would immediately take it off. Despite the fact that he hated hats, he still had a few that people had given him. One day he motioned for me to get a hat off of his rack in his room and when I put it on him, he took off through the house and left it on.
It is the cutest thing ever. I love it!
We celebrated another first birthday. This time it was for my sister's little girl, Julianna. It was a fun time at my parent's house.
Aubrey loves to go out to the "country" and roam around. This tricycle is one of his favorite things to play with.
When it came time for presents, Aubrey FREAKED out when he saw this little car appear. He LOVES to play in the car like he is driving so to have one that is just his size was like Christmas for him, I'm guessing. He was latched on to that thing so tight and almost crawled on top of Julianna who was already "driving" it. Needless to say, he got a lesson in taking turns and sharing!
We also enjoyed having Seth's dad in town for a few nights (Momsicle was in Africa!). Aubrey really enjoyed chillin' with the guys.
For the 4th of July, we had a BIG day. We started out with a 5k walk that went through our neighborhood called the Firecracker. Then, we met up with our friends, the Ashby's, to play at a park that has a splash park and a covered playground. The boys had fun running around.
Aubrey crashed while we enjoyed a lunch with friends next door (we put him down in their extra bedroom). After that, we went back to my parents for dinner and more play time. We ate WAY to much food and enjoyed the company of our wonderful family and friends. Best way to spend a holiday and celebrate our freedom!
And for my memory...
Aubrey is still eating some baby foods. He STILL does not have a tooth in his head. But, I think we are making progress b/c he has had some major teething signs.
Lots of people have commented on how tall he is. I don't think he is tall for his age but he does have the long and lean look like his dad.
He is beginning to fill out his 12 month clothes and still wears size 4 diapers.
He talks a lot (I can't understand a word of it but it's the cutest thing ever)! He rambles in the backseat, in his crib and while playing. We think he has said a couple of names of family members and a couple of words but he is still working on his vocabulary. I think he is trying to sing sometimes when we are in the car and I have the radio on.
He listens to or understands commands pretty well. We tell him to leave his "snuggie" and paci in the bed when we get him up. He will put things up where he found them. He is really good at sitting down when told (useful in the bathtub and when he is drinking or eating outside of the kitchen). He also learned to sign "please" this month. It only took a few days and he had it down. We were amazed at how fast he picked it up.
We are still working on the nap schedule. Some days, depending on our schedule, he will take one nap. Most often he takes two.
He is walking pretty well. He has learned how to stand up on his own (this was a big deal b/c if he fell he would crawl until he could hold something to stand back up).
He has some separation anxiety but it has been getting better. We go to the gym a few days a week and church on Sundays. He is getting used to "hanging" out with his friends (at least that is what I am telling myself, ha).
He really wants to be friends with Shelby but she is still not to fond of him. He pets her and laughs at her.
I LOVE to watch him dance. He can get low! I think he is gonna be a silly dancer like his dad!
He started blowing kisses randomly. (I think someone taught him-one of the grandmas I'm sure- but we have not really encouraged it until he started doing it one day!) He will give "kisses" to Seth and me. It MELTS our hearts! He will give high fives too.

Check out Aubrey's vintage Tech shirt! It was Seth's when he was a baby. It has a vented, mesh back. (lol) Since it has been so hot, we let Aubrey run around in either just a diaper or shirtless.
