O'Neal Labor Day Getaway 2012

Well, actually we went on our getaway the weekend before Labor day so that I could go since it was getting close to my third trimester. It was pretty eventful leading up to the trip. We weren't sure if we would all make it this year. My dad came down with West Nile (crazy!) the week before our trip. He spent 5 days in the hospital and we were not sure how it was going to effect him. Thankfully, the worst part did not last long and he did not suffer any major complications as often is the case. He was able to make the trip and is still recovering from some of the side effects. Thanks to all of you who were praying for his recovery!

This year we went back to Hot Springs (which is where we went the first year we started our annual trip) and stayed in a house on the lake. It was the perfect spot for us to rest and relax with the kids. It had a 180 degree view of the lake since the house was set out on a little peninsula like plot of land. The weather was awesome! Nice fall temps, cool breeze and mostly sunny weekend. It was a good thing we went the weekend before Labor Day because a few days after we left a hurricane blew through Louisiana and Arkansas.
We enjoyed sitting on the porches and admiring the landscape, ducks, buzzards (there were like 100 flying at one point), and boats passing by. There was also a new toy Aubrey discovered...the four wheeler. He loved riding around like a big boy.

Fixing it

We brought out the fishing poles and Aubrey had his first experience fishing! It was pretty crazy at one point having two toddlers and a five year old on the dock with hooks in their hands but no one got hooked or fell in! We also caught lots of fish of all sizes!

Excuse the early morning attire

The fish whisperer...;)
I love this picture because you can see the two toddlers in the background fighting over a fishing pole (I mean there was one for each kid but they just had to have that one, ha). Those two.... Then, there is sweet Addison. Always just taking it all in!
One day went to the children's museum. The kids loved all the exhibits. This picture is fitting for Aubrey because he has a new love of pirates (from watching them on tv). There was a special pirate exhibit at the museum so we got to learn all about them.

The rest of the weekend included us eating, sleeping, eating, watching football, eating and shopping. It was another great family vacation!
