Easter 2014

Once again, Aubrey's school had a sweet program for his class. This was a parade to sport their hats/bonnets and decorate the cross with a flower they brought.

I asked Aubrey what he wanted his hat to be like…a fireman helmet, cowboy hat, or baseball cap. His response was a cowboy hat. So, we did what we could with it! We put grass, Easter eggs decorated with Cars stickers, and sunflowers on his hat.

It was fun seeing all the different hats.
Aubrey and his two buddies, Mac and Landon.

After the parade and a few songs, the class went to hunt Easter eggs on the playground.

The red play thing behind him is his FAVORITE thing to play on. Can you guess what it is? A firetruck! He plays fire and rescue on it every time his class plays outside.
Aubrey and his friends discussing their finds. Right after this they said, "come on let's run!" and off they went. Round and round, giggling the whole time.
We went to another egg hunt at the country club. We met our friends, the Montgomery's, there and let the kids loose.
Kate wasn't quite sure what was going on.
Unfortunately, we made a rookie mistake and were in the BACK of the line to hunt eggs. Only the ones in the front get the eggs. Duh! We literally walked away with no eggs. The kids took it well, surprisingly! That could have been ugly! (We made up for it by hunting eggs 879 a few other times!)

Kate was not sure about the bunny character. She stood at a safe distance watching his every move.

These two just stood around looking cute! :)

We attended the neighborhood egg hunt and made the same rookie mistake of standing in the back (it's less crowded back there, ok?) again. :)

But, we guided the kids to the back of the field and Aubrey was able to find a few.

Kate found a few before we decided that was good enough and went to play!

On Good Friday, we went to Norton Art Gallery and had a picnic. We enjoyed Cane's chicken and the kids got some energy out running through the gardens.

Kate was pretty pumped about the picnic.

On Easter Sunday, we went to church….can you feel see the love...
After church, we had my mom and dad and sister's family over for dinner.

 All the cousins.

 How are they so big?!

After a delicious meal, the kids hunted Easter eggs!
Side note: I did manage to dye eggs with Aubrey this year. He enjoyed it and didn't have any catastrophes (aka spill dye every where-my worst fear)!

Kate enjoyed crushing the real eggs once she found her eggs.
We had a great Easter this year. I attempted to do a reading plan with Aubrey and Kate that reviewed Jesus' life on Earth. The Resurrection eggs were also a good conversation starter about the events of Holy Week. Aubrey enjoyed opening the eggs each day and couldn't wait to open the next one. I hope and pray Easter will become a special day to my children that reminds them of God's unconditional love!
