My family has gone out of town together for the last four years or so on Labor Day weekend. This year we stayed at a house on a small lake (so small I don't think it even has a name). The weather was perfect except for the crazy wind (remember when all those wild fires broke out because of the horrible winds). One day when my Mom, sister and I were heading to Canton for some shopping, we passed almost twenty fire/water trucks going through the neighborhood to a fire. It was insane and scary. Luckily, it was not close to where we stayed. The guys spent one of the days at the LSU game that was at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium against Oregon. They watched the game in style in a suite. Here are some photos of our fun time.
We got to see lots of wild life. There were at least four or five deer that would walk across the property every morning. One evening two raccoons scurried across across the back deck but were to quick for a picture. They came back another day and knocked over a stroller on the back deck. Coons...always up to no good.
Aubrey really wanted to go for a swim (and almost did a few times) but the lake water was not very clean so we took him to the pool.
The house had a basketball goal in the front driveway so we took Aubrey to shoot hoops for the first time. I think the picture says it all. He loved it!
My mom brought her Band Hero game and Aubrey loved playing with all of the instrument pieces. Aubrey loves all musical instruments and must have a future in front of the mic. He was saying all sorts of things into the microphone but none of us had any idea what he was telling us.
I would like to introduce you to someone whom many of you have never met. This is my "adoptive" brother, Jerry Morgan. He has been a part of our family for a long time. Back when I was in elementary school (probably 3rd grade or something), I was introduced to Jerry Morgan at one of my Dad's fire stations. He would say, "Hello, little people" and bow like he was from Japan with his hands folded in front of him. Jerry "works" (he says he trains the rookies) at the fire station and helps with other odd jobs that the firemen ask him to help with. He would come home for dinner and stay with us every so often. Well this summer he spent several months with our family helping move my sister from Ft. Worth, fixing air conditioners with my Dad and playing with my niece, Ella. Jerry is like a little kid in a grown man's body. He and Ella, who is four, are on the same page. He can settle her down, entertain her, and teach her things like nobody else in our family.
These two were non-stop the whole weekend. Since they are only two months apart, they weregetting into everything interested in the same things. We would put them in their high-chairs to eat and they would just smile and laugh at each other.
We are looking forward to a new addition to the family that should arrive this week! We can't wait to meet Miss Addison!
